I'm a new follower of Jordan Ferney's Oh Happy Day. I found her through a random facebook post about this amazing tissue paper design piece, later found the greatest thing since sliced bread: chalkboard contact paper, and then discovered she pursued her dream of living in Paris with a family in tow. Such an inspiration on so many levels and now she's giving away the trip of a lifetime on her own dime. I'm not sure if I'm more excited to go to Paris, or to meet her as a tour guide to visit her favorite spots! Can you say wine in baby bottles over fondue? Oui!

Rock Royalty Baby Shower
Jona is not your average momma-to-be and this was not your average baby shower. I like to theme baby showers not after the baby, but after the momma, what she likes and go from there. Jona has always been a rocker chick at heart. When she was four she dressed as Paul Stanley, and thirty years later she dressed as him again. The baby has already been to numerous concerts inside her belly, from Chula Vista to Vegas to Santee to Pacific Beach. It was only fitting that her shower be appropriately attributed to Rock. But, Jona is also a fancy rock chick, so Rock Royalty was dually fitting. My invision was Bling, Feur de Lis, Feathers, Paparazzi, with black and pink as the color combo.

A beautiful backyard on a stellar San Diego day was the perfect setting for a Rock Royalty themed baby shower for a mom who is a little bit rock, a little bit glam, and a whole lotta royal! Guests were invited on a backstage pass invite and requested to wear black, hot pink, or silver. The guest of honor had her own concert rider naming some demands that were created for her.

A Hard Rock inspired showcase was displayed as guests entered that incorporated bling, feathers, and hot pink. Buffet was also decorated with crystal gems, black feathered plumes (socialcouture.com), and zebra printed tissue to add drama.

Hot pink and White paper lanterns (asianideas.com) were strung above the tables which made the black linens pop!

Tables were pre-set before the guests arrived and decorated with hot pink and white guitar pics, crystal gems, beautiful pink-hued florals (hand arranged by one of my co-hosts), favors for guests (see below) and individual soup spoons for the guest of honor's favorite food to eat!

Favors were personalized CDs featuring favorite songs from the mom-to-be. Graphic was created and provided by Amber at beyondcreativity@yahoo.com.

Plenty of beverages were provided, although all were pink. Spiked and Unspiked Pink Lemonade, Raspberry-infused water, Pink Champagne and Raspberry Tea were available next to a "concert rider" or list of demands that listed the menu items.

Soup buffet created espeically for the guest of honor. Two delicious soups were made by Luc's Bistro in Poway and toppings were added for guests to create their own concoction.

Cake (made by Cakes by Marina) was studded with crystals and silver, surrounded by feathers and candles and topped with a gothic, rock-inspired cross.

Mother to be showing off her gorgeous hot pink belly (guitars were placed throughout to accentuate rock theme).

Game to identify celebrity royalty when they were babies awarded one lucky girl with mom-to-be's favorite book.

Paparrazi was on hand to document the entire day.
